This house is part of the Elysium Noosa development whereby all the houses are designed by prominent architects.
A simple programme – living, eating and sleeping all on one level. The design intent was to consider the living and eating space as one large veranda. This presented the opportunity to embrace the landscape and activate various edges of the site. A summer and winter court resulted with the sleeping spaces also opening to these spaces. Outdoor space is private and safe. Vistas are enjoyed in all directions from inside the house with discrete glimpses and visual connections to the street.
The building basically consists of three rectangular extrusions. The western edge container houses two bedrooms and a study which is broken by a courtyard. This courtyard also defines the entry and transition to the main living container which virtually runs the full length of the house. The bedrooms open up to the various courtyards surrounding the house. No garden or landscaped space is wasted. On the eastern side another rectangular extrusion slides towards the rear of the house consisting of two more bedrooms.
