Elston Sydney Interiors

Sydney | Refurbishment of the Sydney Offices for the Elston Group

Designed as a satellite workplace for Elston in Sydney, this project rethinks the conventional commercial office interior. Rather than adopting a corporate aesthetic, the design focuses on creating a warmer, more inviting environment that reflects the values of the practice and supports meaningful client engagement.

Timber battening forms the defining architectural element throughout the fitout. Introduced as both a spatial and material device, it softens the interior and establishes a consistent visual language. The battening wraps walls and thresholds, offering varying degrees of enclosure to meeting rooms and breakout spaces while providing acoustic attenuation for private conversations.

Greenery and natural materials work together to create a sense of calm, balancing openness with intimacy and reinforcing the connection to natural elements within a dense urban context.

The foyer was conceived as a place of respite — a transition from the pace of the city to a more considered interior environment. Here, the timber battens filter views and light, creating layered privacy while maintaining a sense of openness.

Together, these elements tie the spaces into a cohesive whole. The result is a workplace that feels grounded and welcoming, offering clarity, comfort and continuity for both staff and visitors.
