Holland Park House
Holland Park
This small addition to an existing 1950’s suburban home in Holland Park, Brisbane was an exercise in maximising natural light and air.
A base palette of light coloured plywood and warm white was complimented by soaring skylights and geometric ceiling forms which reflect and refract the light.
Floating high above the existing house tonal gradations of blue and teal externally mirror the blue of the sky in subtropical Brisbane. Detail additions of blue create a subdued internal experience. Like a jewellery box the humble exterior conceals a more luxurious, contemporary experience inside. The colour palette was a crucial factor in achieving the owner’s brief for a tranquil private retreat within the family home.
