Macaulay Street Townhouses
Macaulay Street Townhouses are located on a suburban street in Coorparoo with a mix of 1970’s units and character Queenslander houses. The rear townhouses seek to respect the street address and scale by acting as a backdrop to the existing character house on the site.
Project details
The solid base of the building responds to the 1970’s units with their robust brick bases. The upper floor and roof forms respond to the Queenslander typology with a floating metal roof and covered balconies. The street edge is activated by a courtyard to the street.
The first two floors of the townhouses have an open plan layout, encouraging cross-ventilation and maximising the potential for natural daylighting. A courtyard to the rear sits at a half level between the ground floor utility space and upper level living room, enhancing the connection between the spaces in order to provide functional flexibility.
