Mason Warehouse
Teneriffe
Nestled in a historic Teneriffe wool store, Mason Warehouse (a top-floor apartment) redefines inner-city living. A dynamic interplay of space, materiality, and light unfolds through shifting textures and levels. The open-plan living area extends to a balcony, seamlessly connecting the industrial past with a refined, light-filled contemporary retreat.
The renovation was conceived as an urban retreat – an escape that honours the site’s industrial legacy while enhancing spatial flow, privacy and functionality. The design celebrates the raw materiality of the existing wool store, revealing its original brickwork, timber floors and expansive clestory windows and ensuring the historical elements of the space are celebrated.
Sustainability
This design embraces a less is more approach, using joinery instead of walls to define spaces, reducing costs and enhancing sustainability. By integrating storage and services into multifunctional elements, material use is minimised, lowering waste and environmental impact. This strategy also ensures adaptability, allowing spaces to evolve with the clients’ needs.
Testimonial
“The retention of an architect is such a personal decision. We were fortunate that we got Reddog on the project to assist in deciphering our ideas and thoughts around how we pictured our newly acquired woolstore apartment once removed. Paul was able to interpret our vision, challenge our ideas and pull the jigsaw together through great processes and client involvement. By understanding and respecting all heritage components, listening to how we envisaged living in the space Paul and his team contemporised these spaces by introducing innovative design elements and beautiful finishes. Reddog has been instrumental in assisting us create a wonderful woolstore apartment for the 2020s and beyond. We could not be happier with the outcome and the support Paul and his team provided from concept, through detail design and builder procurement, contract administration and supervision. If we were ever to renovate again I could not imagine doing it without Paul and the Reddog team.”
