Milton Village
Milton, Brisbane
Well known for the iconic Tognini’s café, fruit market and independent grocer this established shopping strip required a refreshment to reinforce and expand it’s important role in the neighbourhood.
Project details
The design analysis identified three primary concerns with the development and sought to make high impact changes to address these issues within the limited scope and budget. A translucent screen filters light, provides visual variety and can be backlit in the evening to mitigate the impact of the long eastern façade. A consistent and streamlined signage strategy was devised and an integrated system for planting, merchandising, seating and traffic control softened the abrupt junction between the pedestrian thoroughfare and carpark. With long term tenants occupying the building the entire project was procured whilst the centre still remained operational. The refurbishment has proven to be a positive contribution to the existing urban fabric.
