Shottery Street Units
Yeronga, Brisbane
The Shottery Street apartments are located on a major intersection in Yeronga, Brisbane; a remnant site at the confluence of character suburbia, modern apartments, and major transport corridors.
Project details
The form of the building responds directly to this varied context, taking an overtly residential outline and extruding it to an urban scale. Recognising the transitory connection of passing cars and commuter trains, the form is simplified into a bold repeatable pattern that remains legible to passing traffic. Internally the units orient to the rear of the site, opening to a communal back yard protected from the noise of Fairfield Road. Meeting at the intersection, ground floor retail and commercial tenancies fulfil the traditional role of ‘corner store’, providing activation to the street level under the protection of a deep shopfront awning.
