Slattery Fitout

George Street, Brisbane

The Slattery office fitout is designed to define a sequence of welcoming experiences with minimal architectural gestures. To contrast the existing generic office space, familiar residential scenarios inform the design.

Project details

Domestic themes are distilled into simple referential elements in material, furniture and joinery. A timber batten screen, notionally the front fence, encloses the entry. An operable sheer curtain softens and divides the public ‘family’ rooms – breakout space and meeting room. Tiles and timber highlights add warmth and simplicity to the kitchen, with the staff ‘dining table’ orientated to the view of the Brisbane River.

The floor finish transition distinguishes the public entry from the more private open work areas. All staff areas occupy the building edge to take advantage of natural daylight and views, with circulation, services and back of house areas pushed to the spine of the main building.
